Dr. Katie Gilbert-Spear

Dr. Gilbert-Spear graduated with honors from Auburn University with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. She obtained her Masters degree in Public Health Epidemiology from UAB School of Public Health and her Doctorate in Optometry from UAB.

She moved to Pensacola, Florida in 2004 and currently owns three private practices and one Ophthalmology office that she manages along with 40 employees, 6 Optometrists and two Ophthalmologists. She is also the founder and director of The Visual Performance Center which provides full scope vision rehabilitation including Low Vision, Stroke/TBI and Vision Therapy. Dr. Gilbert-Spear has also conducted numerous research studies on contact lenses, solutions, dry eye and visual performance in her offices. She is a consultant within the Optometric field and CO-Editor of Women in Optometry magazine. Dr. Gilbert-Spear was nominated in 2014 as one of the ‘most influential women in optical” by VisionMonday.
